Velda Marie Nixson, born on January 14, 1965, as the youngest of 14 children to Roosevelt Nixson and Mary Francis (Baxter) Nixson. She was nurtured and raised by her step-father, Henry Stacks, from the tender age of 18 months. Embracing Christ at a young age, she gleaned spiritual guidance from her mother, Mary Francis Stacks, learning the ways of serving the Almighty.
She was educated by Cincinnati Public Schools, lived a life dedicated to serving others and spreading love. She began her career at the United States Post Office for 15 years before joining Pitney Bowes for 3 years and Cincinnati Public Schools for 14 years, where she was affectionately known as the beloved cafeteria lady at Shroder High School and Mt. Airy Elementary.
Velda's greatest joy came from her family and friends, especially her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother to her first born son, Michael D.Nixson; who preceded her to glory. Julian W. Nixson and her only daughter, Desreta Francis Nixson.
Her love extended to her eight grandchildren, who called her “Nana”, Mikel, Mike Jr, Khalis, Julian, Zariah, Eric, and Oddessy.
A woman of deep faith, Velda's devotion to the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She found solace and strength in her faith, and her love for the Lord shone through in all she did. Velda's simple and genuine nature, coupled with her unwavering faith, touched the lives of all who knew her.
Velda Marie Nixson's legacy of love, faith, and devotion to the Lord will forever be remembered and cherished by those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives. As she rests in peace, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her, knowing that she is now in the arms of the Lord she loved so dearly.
She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory, her siblings in birth order; Barbara Ann (Melvin) Mathews-deceased, Robert Lee Smith-deceased, Richard (Debbie) Smith, Gregory (Mildred) Smith, Ailleen Anderson, Orlando Smith,Eudora (Reginald) Burton, Donetta Partridge, Thelonious Nixson, Qquendo (Stephanie) Nixson, Karivinii (Jeff) Nixson-Ison, Kovetta Campbell, DarrenNixson, and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Nephews, Nieces, Cousins, Relatives and Friends.
