Arimel Eugenia Campbell’s obituary Sunrise 12-26-1949 - Sunset 1-13-2019

Arimel Eugenia Campbell also known as Jean and Sister was born in Evansville, Indiana on December 26, 1949. Her family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio when she was a small child. She was a sickly child who grew into a strong and lovely young lady.  She would live her life as a loving Christian.

Arimel had many talents and hobbies including sewing, cooking, crochet, singing and playing cards. She excelled at singing and it was a passion of hers as she would go on to sing for several gospel groups including the Charles Ford Singers, with who she was professionally recorded. Arimel was also a devout member of Mount Auburn Presbyterian Church and a member of the church’s choir for over forty years. She also served as a deacon at the church.

Arimel was known as a superb cook, she would regularly cook meals for homeless families while getting contributions from family, friends and other church members. As a young adult Arimel resided in the Corryville neighborhood of Cincinnati where she graduated from Hughes High School and later graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.

Arimel was a dedicated worker starting with her first ever job as a cook at Oak Pavilion Nursing Home to her last job at the University of Cincinnati Hospital where she worked as a medical records clerk for over thirty one years. She would also volunteer her time and talents as a preschool teaching assistant at Schield Elementary School assisting life long friend Maxine Cox-Johnson, the downtown Cincinnati YWCA as a sewing instructor and as a clerk at the thrift store in Mount Auburn.

Arimel blessed the world with two beautiful and wonderful children Vanessa Louise Mackey and Dr. James Howard Campbell both of Cincinnati, Ohio.

On January 13, 2019 Arimel was called home to be with her Lord and Savior after succumbing to liver cancer.  She leaves behind her sisters Bertie Campbell-Kennedy (Joe), Roberta Jones (Vic), LouAnn Smith, Rachel Smith (Rob) and brothers George Smith, Paul Jackson, Donald Smith(Trish) and Ronald Smith. Grandsons Tony Campbell, Kenneth Campbell and Kent Terrell Campbell. Great granddaughter Tyonnah “Kay” Campbell. Son-in-law Kent Mackey and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers Darryle Smith and Anthony Smith and sister Carol Smith as well as her great aunt Bertie Mae “Auntie” Williams, mother Georgia Smith of Tennessee and step-father Aldo Smith of Mississippi.
