Betty J. Johnson was called home on Sunday, February 3, 2019 surrounded by family! Preceding her in death was her only son, Thelonious E. Johnson; her grandparents, George and Lula Phifer; parents, Beulah M. Scott and Ernest Summers; sisters, Clara Pugh and Mary Griffin; brother, Charles Scott; great-grandson, Jabarri Johnson, father and mother-in-law, James E. Johnson and Bertha Johnson Campbell; brother-inlaw, James F. Johnson; nephew, JacQuinn Harper; and many more loved ones too many to name. Betty is the last of the four siblings to go on to GLORY. She first became a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in 1964. Betty served as the President of the eaconess Board until her passing at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church. She LOVED her St. Mark family!
Betty worked for Kenner Products for many years and decided to retire when General Mills bought Kenner Products.
Betty was a most loving wife and mother. She LOVED her family even more as long as her health allowed; she never missed a family event.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 64 yeras, Lloyd Johnson; children, Volita Johnson-Buckner, Joann Johnson-Spencer (Coleman), Monica Johnson- McDade (Terrence), Veronica Johnson and Fern Johnson-Boddie (Dennis); her grandchildren, Kenneth Buckner (Sarah), Wayne Johnson (Mia), Jason Johnson (Rhonda), Douglas Johnson, Dante Johnson, Javon Spencer, Vonice Ashby (Jordan), Monique Johnson, Ebony Hackle (Lamont), Tiara Johnson, Lashay Watkins (Roscoe), Lashell Calloway and Jalin Spencer; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She also has her forever son-in-law, Kenneth Buckner.
