Clara Dukes was born on August 6, 1940 in Selma, Alabama, to the late Mary Ella Craig Dukes and Willie John Dukes. Clara was known by many as Mookie.
She loved the Lord and confessed at an early age to be a follower. She attended Taft High School and was a compe-titive player in softball and volleyball. Clara worked at Kenner’s Toys as an assembly worker, then promoted to Lead Line Supervisor for many years, until Kenner’s Toys relocated. She went on to work at Cin-Pac, Pride & Cast until retirement.
A loving mother to many who cared for others. She never left her home without some kind of gift or some-thing to eat, no matter who you were. She enjoyed cooking, music, laughter, sports, shopping for others, sharing stories about the past and she loved her grandson with all her heart, as well as her family and friends.
Mookie’s mission to give a gift of love to those she loved, came with a big smile. She shared this gift throughout her life with whomever she met.
Clara (Mookie) will be missed and remembered in all our hearts. Love you Mookie, Mama Dukes.
