Elijah Johnson, Sr. was born on October 7, 1936 to the late Elijah Johnson and Mattie Williams Johnson in Tuskegee, Alabama. He was the eldest of six children. He departed this life on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Drake Center, ending a short term illness.
Elijah was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System, graduating from old Woodward High School. He retired from Barnes and Conway Construction Company.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined New Pleasant Baptist Church in Tuskegee, Alabama. Elijah was a loving and devoted husband and father, who loved giving and helping others.
He was preceded in death by three children, Arlesta, Angela Lee and Reginald Christopher; sister, Rose Schumaker; three brothers, Lonnie Johnson, Albert Johnson and Samuel Johnson; and his parents.
Elijah leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife, Juanita Johnson; his sister, Ruthie Brown (George); two daughters, Yolanda Ann Morris and Catherine Johnson; four sons, Elijah Andrew Johnson, Jr., Albert Adrian Johnson, Vada Ollis and Terry L. Harris (Constance); extended family, Stephanie Martin (Timothy), Jephanie Harris (Darryl), Joseph C. Harris, Jr., Courtney Martin, Brittany Harris and Samantha Harris; his grandchildren, Calvin, Erin, Delilah Castro (David), Farsha’, Elijah “JJ” (Jasmine), Eric Michael, Allisa, Albert Jr., Candice, Darryl Jr. and Diamond; his great-grandchildren, Jayla, Jaylan, Elijah IV, Emani, Nayla, Jayles, Journey, Jayce and Lyric; and many other family members and friends.
