Helen Louise Henderson passed away peace-fully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Hyde Park Health Center, completing her 108 year journey of life serving “GOD”.
She was born in Petersburg, Virginia, Prince George County on November 5, 1910 to the union of John Henry Carter and Esther (Jones) Carter. She and her family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of 12.
She accepted Christ at a very early age and attended Union Baptist Church with her mother and great uncle.
Helen attended Cincinnati Public Schools and was a strong believer in education for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Helen met and married Clyde Henderson in 1935 and to this union, four children were born: Carolyn Henderson, Joyce Poole who shared her mother’s birthday, Patricia Thompson, and one child deceased at birth. She was married 66 years at the time of her husband’s death.
Helen was a wonderful mother to her children and also a mother to the neighborhood and church children.
She was a very kind hearted person, who never met a stranger. She was never judgmental and met others where they were. She always saw the good in others versus the bad. Helen always gave advice according to the Word of “GOD”.
She was a faithful member of Second Community Church under Pastor Henry Dunlap as an Usher and Church Secretary. She then went with Rev. Mack Jackson at Truth Universal Missionary Baptist Church as Church Secretary, then with passing of both, she then resided under Rev. Kenneth Smith.
She leaves to cherish: her children, Carolyn Henderson, Joyce Poole and Patricia Thompson; grandchildren, Elaine, Douglas, Pam, Pamela, Jannell, Adriane and Charles; great-grand-children, Ebony, Ehmil, Natasha, Robert, Frances, Helen, Joyce, Desmond, Raven, Tish, Justin, Zane, Chebar and Nile; great-great-grandchildren, Savon, Zyair, Carter, Amaria and Peyton, Diamond, Kaila and Kassidy; extended family, Carolyn Welch, Ruby Segar-Gray, Perry True and Judy Davenport.
