Henry S. Arthur Obituary

Henry Sylvester Arthur was born on December 15, 1939 to Andrew and Annie Arthur in Cahaba, Alabama. Henry had seven siblings. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Arthur, Moses Arthur, Carolyn Johnson, Maggie Mitchell and Betsy Arthur and survived by siblings, Lillie Bell Williams and Mary McCord.
 
During his high school years, Henry attended Dallas County Training School from 1952-1956. He joined the 82nd Airborne in 1957 for three years before enlisting in the Navy, serving 17 years. While in the military, Henry earned several military commendations and served in Vietnam. Henry retired from the military in 1977.
 
Henry married Stella Mae Arthur (nee Butler) on December 13, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and from this union they had two children.
 
After retiring from the Navy, Henry joined the U.S. Postal Service, where he worked as a Mail Handler. While there, he excelled in his position, receiving several com-mendations. He retired after 23 years of service.
 
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Kevin; his daughter, Tracy; his beloved grandchildren, Jordan Arthur, Nyree Arthur and Dallas Arthur; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
