Jeremy McCowan Obituary

TIME TO BE BORN. Jeremy Brandon McCowan, Sr. is the fifth child of Mark Eugene and Velma Gail McCowan. His parents made sure they raised their children, Carla, Mark Jr., Keisha, Aaron (Jeanne) and Jeremy to know and love God. Jeremy was an adventurous kid who oftentimes would get into trouble, but that did not stop him from doing what he wanted to do.

A TIME TO SHARE. Regardless of what he had, Jeremy was honored to help anyone in need. Even if friends and family did not need anything, Jeremy made sure that you had fun and felt loved.

A TIME TO LOVE. He touched so many people. He never met a stranger and was able to make everyone feel special. If you needed anything and Jeremy had it, then it was yours. He held a special love and bond with his children’s mom, Jasmine and his best friends, Rashawn Henderson (Shericeia) and Jamaal (Alishia) Akbar.

A TIME TO PLAY. If Jeremy wanted to do something, he did it.  Watching movies, celebrating holidays, traveling and spending time with his children, family and friends kept him happy and at peace.

A TIME TO ENTER INTO GOD’S KINGDOM. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Gail McCowan, his nephew, Corrye Barwick, his maternal grandparents, Ruth Dyes and Willie Hall, and his paternal grandmother, Mary McCowan. He leaves to mourn his passing: his children, Jeremy Jr., Jalen and Jaiyonna; his siblings, Carla, Mark Jr., Keisha and Aaron (Jeanne); his special friends, Jasmine and Rashawn; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

A TIME TO THANK GOD. He fought when it was his time to go, but one of the last things he said was, “I plead the blood of Jesus” and “God forgive me for my sins.” He took after his mom and her love to be around and serve people. His heart was generous. His motives in helping others were pure and his love was genuine. His children, Jeremy, Jalen and Jaiyonna, and goddaughter, Brooklyn Henderson will continue to maintain and embody who and what their father/godfather was.

“This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”
