Johnny Whitney, Jr. entered this life on December 20, 1982 in Cincinnati, Ohio as the only son and second of three children born to Cynthia Pitts and Johnny Whitney, Sr. Endearingly called “John John” or “Double J” by those who knew and loved him, he was truly a joy to be around to everyone who knew him. “John John” would gain many titles throughout his life including father, grandfather, son brother, uncle and friend to many.
“John John” was educated in the Cincinnati and Princeton School Districts. It was during his youth that he developed a passion for music and he often spent time with his family singing, dancing and enjoying music. Always the life of the party, “John John” left fond memories with everyone he encountered and will always be remembered for his smile and the joyous energy of his spirit .
“John John” departed this earth on November 30, 2019 to be reunited with: his grandparents, Rev. Charles and Willa Mae Pitts; aunt, Virgil Capell; uncles, Robert and Roy Pitts.
He leaves to cherish his memory: companion, Linda Gehler; mother, Cynthia Pitts Radcliffe (Tony Willis); father, Johnny Whitney, Sr.; sisters, Andrea Camille and Monique Chanél Whitney; daughters, Nyasia Mayes (Pooh) and Destiny Jeffries; son; Jared Alexander Gilbert; one grandson, Treyvon Mayes (Nyasia); nephews and nieces, Kevin, KeAndré, KeAsia Shipmon (Andrea), Brayden, Whitney and Callie Hill (Monique); loving aunts, Annie Bridges, Deborah Pitts and Marilyn Pitts Green (Andre); uncles, Charles, Wallace and Willie Dean Pitts; and a host of cousins and livelong friends.
