Judy Marie Bailey Obituary

Judy Marie Bailey (nee Lee) departed this life on September 14, 2019.  She was born on September 25, 1966 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Alice Payne Washington and Henry Harold Lee, the fourth of seven children.  She attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Western Hills High School in 1984 before enrolling at Cincinnati State to pursue a degree in Electrical Engineering.

In 1988 Judy and her sons came to Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple where she was baptized and received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost.  She immediately began working with her new church family taking an active role in various ministries, including; Children’s Church, Sunday School, Christian Education including Bible Bowl Competitions and eventually the Married Couples for Jesus.  She took an active role in introducing people to Christ and endearing herself to the congregation at large with her warm smile, kind words and willing spirit.

In 1989, she wed Kenneth Bailey Sr., blending their two families into a loving, Christ-centered household, focused on education, achievement and service.  As the family grew from four children to eight, Judy excelled in her role as the family’s Domestic Operations Director.  She went above and beyond to ensure the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of her children were met.  Whether it was nursing the children to health after a chicken pox outbreak, engineering a family vacation to Disney World or teaching her children scriptures to music, Judy was a fiercely devoted mother; she poured into her children and grandchildren at every opportunity.  As the children got older, Judy was able to embark on a career outside of the home.

Judy was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and her zeal for The Lord went with her to every house on every route that she worked.  She delivered words of hope, encouraging smiles and the Gospel of Jesus Christ along with every parcel.  In addition to allowing her to witness to hundreds if not thousands of people over her nearly two decades of employment, working allowed her to part take in her other great love, exploring new places.

Judy loved to travel!  She enjoyed seeing different cultures; whether it was eating schnitzel in Germany or enjoying the Jamaican pace of life.  While she embraced the beauty of nature and different locales, her first choice was to be on a boat or on a beach relaxing.  She was always either planning a cruise, on a cruise, just getting back from a cruise or looking for a new beach to visit.  Judy was always seeking her next adventure.

When she had down time at home between classes, she relished watching Hallmark Movies, (no matter how many times we told her the stories were all the same) and romantic comedies, decorating her dining room table or laying out on her hammock.  Regardless of the activity, she was happiest when she was with her family.

Carrying on her legacy are her husband, Kenneth Baily Sr., five sons, Jonathan Lee Sr. (Courtney), Kenneth Bailey Jr, Jermaine Lee, Stephen White, and Joshua Bailey along with three daughters Tiffany Bailey, Karmen Bailey and Patricia Bailey.  She also poured into the lives of her nine grandchildren, Brandon, Na’Kyrah, Kenneth III, Jerrell, Mariah, Malachi, Jonathan II, Jason and Christina.  She will also be cherished by her mother Alice Payne Washington (Horace), her father Henry Harold Lee, her brothers Jonathan Lee (Lori), Robert Lee (Twyla), Timothy Lee and her sisters Gwendolyn Carter (Edmond), Annette Lee, Tina Lee, Amber Green (Maurice), and Laskia Lee, along with a host of nephews and nieces, family, classmates and her Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple Family.
