Katherine “Kat” Waver Clark was born in Cincinnati, OH on September 30, 1934 to Janie (McKinney) and Monark Waver; one of eleven (11) children. She peacefully departed this earthly life on Saturday, April 6, 2019.
Kat was a devote Christian who professed her belief in Christ at an early age. Her Christian journey included being an active member as part of the congregations at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church, both in Lincoln Heights, Ohio. As a teenager, Kat sang with Charles Fold before he formed The Charles Fold Singers.
In December 1956, she joined in holy matrimony to Earl Edward Clark and to this union was born one son, Greg and one daughter, Sheila.
Kat graduated from Lockland Wayne High School. She was a hard worker who was employed at the old St. Mary’s Convent Nursing Home, Merry Manufacturing and Goldsmith’s. The caring spirit she provided the patients at St. Mary’s led her to become a caregiver for both her mother, Janie and brother, Marvin until their deaths.
Kat loved to travel and in addition to returning to her roots in Alabama, she traveled to Florida; Atlantic City, NJ; Washington, DC; and Las Vegas, NV. There were also many regional excursions with her children, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed playing Bingo and eventually gravitated to the O.A.B., “one arm bandits”.
She is survived by her loving and devoted children, Greg and Sheila; three grandchildren, Genene Williams, Eric Caver and Greg (Little Greg) Clark; and one sister, Ora Brady. In addition to her parents preceding her in death, so did her sisters…. Alma Rozier, Janie Oliverson, Irene Jones, Addie Pearl Darby and Thelma Waver and her brothers….James (Tex), Willie (Eddie), Melvin and Marvin; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
