Lucy Hill was born to Willie Mae and Haze Kinney on April 14, 1932 in Eutaw, AL. As a teenager, she moved to Cincinnati with her mother where she attended Hughes High School.
She was united in Holy Wedlock to Robert L. Hill on November 20, 1931. They were happily married for 63 years. They were blessed with four children: Ervin, Constance, Robin and Victoria. Lucy was a full time mom to raise her children and later went to nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
She worked at Good Samaritan Hospital for over 20 years. She was an active member of St. Mark Church, St. Mark PTA, and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the St. Martin DePorres Council.
Lucy and Bob loved to travel with friends and other St. Mark Church members. She loved to dance and they frequently attended events at the church together.
Lucy was a devoted daughter and opened her own resale shop called Lucy’s Touch of Class which she and her mother managed together. She also liked to make flower arrangements for her family and displayed them throughout her home.
As her children were growing up, her home was a meeting place for the neighborhood kids and she continued to be a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother throughout her life.
She peacefully departed this life on December 5, 2019, surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert (Bob); her son, Ervin; and her sister-cousin, Ernestine.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her three devoted daughters, Constance, Robin and Victoria (Alvin); cousin, Elizabeth Barron (Lawrence); niece, Shirley Sykes; daughter-in-law, Sherry Hill; seven grandchildren, Ryan Hill (Dana), Monica Hill, Brandon Craig, Latrecia Simmons (Joshua Reese), Haze Hill, Christina Love (Raeshawn), Anthony Hill; nine grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
