Life’s Reflection
Margaret Sanders was born in Brooksville, MS to the union of John Odneal and Pearl Watford on March 13, 1925.
Margaret accepted Christ at an early age in Brooksville, MS; she united with St. Mary Baptist Church in 2010. As a member of St. Mary Baptist Church, she worked in the Out-Reach Ministry. You could often find her bagging up countless cookies or helping to provide meals every first Thursday of the month to feed the less fortunate at City Gospel Mission. She stood for the Lord so elegantly up until the Lord saw fit to call her home on Thursday, January 17, 2019.
Margaret married Tom Jeff Sanders on November 28, 1952 where they remained married until he took his eternal rest in March, 2015.
Margaret worked as a cook at Whistle Pine Restaurant for over 15 years in Brooksville, MS.
Upon moving to Cincinnati in February, 1955, Margaret worked as a housekeeper for the Klosterman Family for ten years. In 1975, she worked for Mike and Janell Gelffand for two years and
From 1960-1986, she worked as a Housekeeper/Nanny for the Buchheim Family and was lovingly referred to as “Second Mother” to Linda, Becky, Gary and Jay.
Margaret was affectionately known as “Gangster Granny” and when needed, would remind us that she’s “Gangster Granny”.
Margaret leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters: Georgia Reeves (Melvin) and Eppie Gordon(Charlie) Siblings: Ruth Walker, John Odneal Jr., Mary Taylor, Annie Brown; Grand Children: Donald Jones, Debbie Taylor (Michael), Teri Jones-Morris (Willie), Lee Gilliam, Melvina Hickson (Donte), Tanesha Gilliam and Tommy Reeves; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her siblings Betty Odneal, Ninnie Roby and George Odneal.
