Mr. Vernona Childs

Vernona M. Childs was born on June 20, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio  to  the parents  of  Dorothy  Childs and Vernona Hairston.

Vernona departed this life peacefully in his home surrounded by family on October 1, 2018.

Vernona attended Hoffman  Elementary,  Sawyer  Jr. High School  and  Withrow  High  School. He was employed at the Oak Pavilion Nursing Facility, where he enjoyed being a cook.  He also  worked other  various  jobs; he was a ''Jack of all trades" to say the   least!

To know Vernona was to love him! The people closest to him knew him as "Loney". You could always count on Loney no matter what, and  he  would  give  you  the  shirt off his back if necessary. Although  he never  had children  of his own, he 

Vernona is preceded in death by his sister, Dorthea Childs.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted mother, Dorothy Childs; his only brother, Melvin Childs; sister , Barbara  Ann Childs; special aunt, Ruby J. Boulding; uncles, Milton (Frances), Wilford (Ruby), Richard and Harold; nieces, LaShona, Chaude', Cha'Nyah  and Me'Lisa;  nephew, Corey;  a special great-­nephew, "Main Man" (Chance Hassan); and a host of other great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, "close friends" and a very special friend, Duke Ragan.
