Nadine M. Broadus affectionately called “Na” by family and friends was born on March 16, 1955 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Drayton Robinson and Gladys E. Evans.
She attended Taft Night School and obtained her GED while raising her family. After obtaining her GED she continued her education and obtained an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Cincinnati. She was employed as a Child Care Worker and worked her way up to the Head Start Director at the English Woods Early Head Start Center. She worked passionately and diligently as a child care worker and Director for over 20 years in the field of Early Childhood Education.
After leaving Early Childhood, “Na” continued her love for learning and education taking several college courses. Additionally, Nadine worked for various government agencies for numerous years. All while she enjoyed spending time and caring for her 22 grandkids and 8 great grandchildren.
Nadine rekindled her relationship with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She became rooted and grounded in her faith.
She was the matriarch of the family and nurturing to her children and siblings.
“Na” often gathered family together for cookouts and entertainment. “Na” loved to dance, listen to Tupac and R. Kelly music, even had a picture of Tupac in her wallet. Appreciated time playing cards with family, friends and enjoyed her Alabama Fish Bar. She loved her house plants and visiting James Bradley statue for some quiet time. There wasn’t a person in Fairmount that didn’t know and respect “Na”. As she walked in the door at Crosstown Bar, you would here “Hey Na” “Hey Ms. Nadine”. Nadine life ended abruptly on September 29th at her home due to health complications. “Na” ran the race and finished the cause well.
Nadine leaves her memory to be cherished by her children, Lynniese Dickerson, Orlando Dickerson (Tiffany), Telly Dickerson, Nathan Dickerson (Alisha) and Mary Dickerson. Siblings: Tyrone Broadus (Sherri), Glenn Kindell (Valerie), Sandy Kindell (Ron), Maurice Broadus, Dawn Woolfork; Drayton Robinson Jr., Michael Robinson (Tammy), Anthony Robinson (Dena), Dwayne Robinson (Pam), Belinda Freeman (Dion) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Nadine is preceded in death by her grandmother Mary “Ma” Broadus, sisters Juanita Robinson, Robina (Robin/Kool-Aid) Brooks (Dan) and brother David Kindell (Karen).
