Percie Lee Wright, Sr.

Elder Percie L. Wright was born March 28, 1938 in Opelakea, Alabama to the proud parents of Nealous and Rosie L. Wright-Hutchinson. Percie was called to Glory from this life on December 4, 2018 at the Hawthorn Glen Nursing Facility surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Burnetta of 35 years. His parents, two sisters, Annie Bell Brown and Maxine Meadows, two brothers Henry Wright Sr. and Stevie Meadows, two grandsons Shaun Williams and Erwin Wright Jr. and former wife Earline Holmes.

After attending Middletown City Schools, he went on to serve in the US Airforce. Percie was later employed at Armco from which he retired. Percie accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Greater Faith Baptist Church in 1994. He was a faithful and active member. An elder of the church, he was also on the Trustee Board and diligently assisted wherever there was a need, serving until his health failed him.

As the patriarch of the Wright Family, Percie adored the time spent with family; it always brought great joy to his life. He loved to joke with family and friends, a kind man full of joy; he always displayed love, peace and patience with anyone he encountered.

Percie Wright leaves to cherish his memory, daughter Mona Renee (Lawrence) and sons Erwin, Percie Jr., Dirk and Andre Wright, one brother Edward Ogletree and two sisters; Mary Thornton, and Lillian Patterson, two adopted grandchildren; Kimberly Claggett and Dirk Dejong Wright Jr., Grandchildren, Greatgrandchildren, and Great greatgrandchildren, special friends, Margie Davis & family, Homer Robinson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
