Raymond Christopher Figgins, known affectionately as Ray or Chris, was born on December 25, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the youngest son of three brothers born to the union of Rose L. and (the late) Booker T. Figgins.
Ray attended the Amity Elementary and Deer Park Jr. High Schools and graduated from New Richmond School in 1974. Ray joined the Army for three years and the Air Force Reserves: with education in electrical instrument repair and sharp shooter (rifle), receiving decorations: medals, badges, citations, and a Honorable Discharge.
Ray worked at the Post Office for many years until health issues. Ray lived life to his greatest ability, love, laughter, happiness and challenges. He played football on both of his school teams. He liked fixing cars for others, old movies, playing his bass guitar, traveling and fishing. Ray was well mannered and very affectionate, caring, sensitive for people with special disabilities and the elderly in the community, whatever the task, day or night.
He leaves behind: his beloved mother, Rose L. Figgins; his brothers, Steve (Rosetta), Charles (Mary) and Hayward (DeeDee); his uncle, Leonard McKnight (Norma); aunt, Betty Thomas; two sons, Joey and Ernie and their mother, Sara; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and a special woman, Judy who helped him take care of his mom. Also, a special bond for friend, neighbor and second mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. George Jackson.
