Sandra Braswell was born on September 25, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH to the union of Isiah and Ethel Braswell. Sandra found Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Luke A.M.E. in Cincinnati, OH. Sandra attended Cincinnati Public Schools an was a proud graduate of Withrow High School Class of 1977.
After high school, Sandra began a career in the social services field. She was exceptionally passionate about the field and, as a result, helped hundreds of people improve their lives. She worked as a case and housing manager, group facilitator, and was a trainer in many areas, including children who witnessed domestic violence. Sandra strived to help her clients succeed and would go out of her way to advocate for them.
In addition to her formal career, she became a member of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network Women of Color Caucus due to compassion for individuals in domestic violence crises. Sandra also thoroughly enjoyed working on the Withrow High School Alumni/Reunion Committee where she helped fundraise for and organize class reunions.
Sandra was a very caring person who loved people. She was one lively lady! To some she was Sandy, others Bras, Shawnta, or Sanbezee. No matter who you knew her as, she was always smiling and thrived from seeing joy in others. She loved to shop and was a great cook.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Isiah and Ethel Braswell, sisters Marilyn Kendricks, Deborah Gassett and Tacoma Holmes and grandson Lionel Blake McKinstry.
