Shirley Harris Obituary

Humble Beginnings

Shirley Harris, also known as “Cookie”, was born February 28, 1944 in Cincinnati, Ohio to her late parents, George & Clemmie Dewberry. Cookie was the baby of seven children. As a life long resident of Cincinnati Ohio, she was educated at Stowe School.

Family Life

Cookie was married to the love of her life, Thomas Harris, for more than 50 years. Within their union, they raised their one and only daughter, Elizabeth Ann Glover and special son-in-law, Al Glover, Sr. Cookie also helped to raise her grandchildren: Alnor Glover, Jr. “Boopbee”, Alexzandra Glover “YouYou”, and Alana Glover “Fart Dartie”. She was known for giving her family nicknames, especially the great grandkids: Leyanna “Cutie Pie”, Isabella “Bella Wella”, Lauren “Butter Cup”, AdaLine “Sha Nae Nae”. She was also known to others as “Aunt Cookie“.

Favorite Things to Do

Cookie’s past times included spending time loving on her family and sewing. She and Thomas took pride cultivating an award-winning garden! She was an excellent cook. Her passion for cooking was well-suited when she pursued a culinary degree at the Cinti State Technical College of the Arts. Once she was certified and received her credentials, she went to work for Jewish Orthodox and Cedar Village.

Favorite Scripture

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. – Acts 2:38

A Blessed Woman of God

A Letter to My Mother

Thank you for raising me and giving me all your unconditional love. All I can say is we had a life full of fun, and a lot of laughs, for sure. When your health started failing, I was in disbelief. But you raised me to be a strong woman, and to hold my head up high, so I did. I watched over you till the end, and I fought hard for you, until the end. When you took your last breath, peacefully, I knew I made you proud. Sleep on, until we meet again. Love always and forever, your daughter “Liz”.
