Virgil Johnathan Bishop Sr., known to most of us as “Buster” was born February 21, 1963, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Mildred Bishop and the late Walter Bishop (deceased). He departed in this life on May 31, 2019. He was the third of five children.
Virgil attended Aiken High School where he took up clothing management and worked at Cavalier Cleaners after he graduated high school. He honed his craft and worked the industry for 20 years at Bond Hill Cleaners and Clean to a Tee. He loved to work with his brother William and had a career of Roofing and Painting later that he enjoyed. Virgil was a member of Golden Gate Missionary Church in Cincinnati, Ohio where he served on Usher Board 2. Virgil was fun loving, a provider of his family, and loved by so many.
He is preceded in death by his brothers Leroy and William Short, and sister-in-law, Pamela Short. He is survived by his mother, Mildred Bishop, two sisters, Claudina Turner (Stephon) and Karen Payne (Antwan). Two sisters-in-law, Sharon Short and Felecia Short, Aunt Ethel (Wendell) and Uncle Mitchell Short (Betty).
He is also survived by his eight children; Natasha Johnson, Virgil Bishop, Shawn Bishop, Kristal Stuckey (James), LaDon Simpson, Cieara Simpson, Rodneisha Bush, and Jasmine Bishop. 16 grandchildren; Raysean, Donesia, Dontre, LaDon Jr., Jah’naisha, Lamareya, Ra’ziyah, Anthony, Kaleel, Jaleeah, Justice, Ava, Shawn Jr, Khaire, Yazzmine, and Yemaris.
His nieces and nephews; Karen Short, Velisa Johnson (Juqwaun), Shavelle Smith (Marcus), Samuel Bishop (Tenia), Emmanuel bishop (Trenae), Valisa Bishop, Dawanna Bishop, Jesse Short (Shanice), Lamar Smith, William Short, Charles Bishop, Mark Bishop, Marketa Bohannon, Michael Short, Kevin Short, and Margaret Short. A host of great and great-great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and many family friends. He shared a special bond with friends Wendell, Red, Alamin, Anthony Williams, and Thomas Tally.
