Warren C. McMillan Obituary

Warner (Warren) Charles McMillan was born on March 24, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Warner Carroll McMillan and Ruth Eleanor (Brown) McMillan. He was the eldest of five children. He was the oldest grandson of Reverend Elias and Martha (Gentry) Brown.

Warren graduated from Hughes High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and continued his education at Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education, pursuing his career as a school teacher. He taught for a few years before changing his occupation. He then worked for the State of Ohio Social Security Services as a claims adjudicator.

He began his Christian journey as a member of the New Sardis Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of his grandfather. Following the example shown by his mother, Warren became a servant at an early age, striving to do what was right and pleasing to God. As he matured and began to desire more of God, he was drawn to the Emanuel Tabernacle Church. He began visiting the church after hearing a radio broadcast of Bishop Paul A. Bowers preaching. Here is where he was baptized in Jesus Name and filled with the gift of the Holy Ghost. As a member of Emanuel Tabernacle, (later becoming Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple), Warren served in many capacities. He was a musician, served in the Transportation Committee and one of leaders of the Personal Evangelism Committee (Outreach Committee). Here is also where Warren met and married his wife, Gail Carson. Under this union they raised four children: Crystal, Warren Jr., Evangela and Elliott.

Warren was a devoted husband and father. He loved his family very much. He sacrificed tremendously for his family and would do whatever he could to provide for them. He would take his wife and children on many family trips which included family reunions, Niagara Falls trips, visits to State Parks and many PAW conventions.

He enjoyed cooking. This was especially shown when he helped prepare the large meals for the many dinner gatherings hosted by his mother. He was especially proud of his cornbread dressing and assortment of cakes that he would prepare for dessert.

In 1987, he and the family moved to Columbus, Ohio. He then became a member of the Greater Christ Temple Apostolic Church under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop John G. Thompson. Here he continued serving as musician, altar worker, and men’s choir director. While in Columbus, he also served at the Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Suffragan Bishop Eugene Lundy.

Elder McMillan had a great love for saving “souls”. He helped to organize many tent meetings as well as prayed with many souls to receive the Holy Ghost. He was all about souls, souls, souls!

He loved the Lord with all of his heart and loved to praise and testify of His goodness. He would often end his testimonies with “When you see me coming, I’ve got Jesus on my mind!”

Warren wrote and composed several songs. Some of the songs have been ministered by the “Voices of Emanuel” Choir at Greater Emanuel Apostolic Temple in Cincinnati, Ohio, as well as the Men’s Choir at the Greater Christ Temple Apostolic Church, in Columbus, Ohio. A few of his original songs are entitled “Life is Beautiful with Jesus Christ”, “Whenever I Call Him”, “Meet Him in the Air”, “Keep on Praising God”, and “If I Had Ten Thousand Tongues”.

As his parents aged, Warren as the oldest son, would often travel back and forth from his home in Columbus to help provide support for his parents living in Milford, Ohio. After the passing of his dad, Warren relocated to Milford to provide in home assistance to his mom during her elderly years. He was later joined by his wife Gail, who also moved to support her husband and mother-in-law.

Warren departed this life and stepped into glory on Monday, October 22, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Warner C. McMillan, his brother, Vaughn McMillan, and his mother, Ruth Eleanor McMillan.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Gail McMillan; four children, Crystal of Columbus, OH, Warren (Danielle) of Chicago, IL, Evangela of Columbus, OH and Elliott of Cincinnati, OH; two brothers, James (Patricia) of Cincinnati, OH and Anthony (Alesia) of Columbus, OH; one sister, Shirley (Harvey) of Richmond, IN; one sister-in-law, Dellena Carson of Cincinnati, OH; mother-in-law, Elouise Carson of Cincinnati, OH; four uncles, Marshall (Virginia) McMillan of Cincinnati, OH, Henry (Melinda) Brown of Weston, MA, Floyd Brown of Cincinnati, OH and Jimmie Brown of Cincinnati, OH; two aunts, Doris McMillan of Milford, OH and Jessie McMillan of Milford, OH; five grandchildren, Alexis Floyd, Breeya McMillan, Christian McMillan, Arianna McMillan and Mya Hammond; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
