Wilbert King was born on May 14, 1937 in Cincinnati, Ohio to William and Arlene King. On April 25, 2019, surrounded by his family, he exchanged his earthly burdens to be tucked safely in the arms of our Lord.
Wilbert was the eldest of 13 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Earl.
As a young boy, he accepted Christ and spent his youth and most of his adult life at Zion Temple First Pentecostal Church. He later joined and worshipped with his family at Christ Emmanuel Christian Fellowship.
He was educated in the Cincinnati Public School System, graduating in 1955 from old Woodward High School. He joined the Air Force in October of that same year.
In the early 1960’s, Wilbert married Virginia Schram which welcomed two daughters to that union. In 1969, Wilbert married Marilyn Ramsey and welcomed another daughter and a son.
Wilbert loved large family gatherings, cooking and especially traveling to visit friends and family. He often went to California to visit his younger brother.
Wilbert retired from Cincinnati Bell Telephone Co. where he worked as a frameman. He kept up on current events by reading and watching CNN most of the day.
Wilbert leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters and one son, Jaime King Birch, Jodi A. Russell, Candace Marie and David C. (Dawona) King; 14 grandchildren, Carissa, Ronald and Chaz King, Donovan Birch, Gary, Virginia and Justin Russell, Francesca, Skylar and Isabella King, Essence Carter, David Jr., Timothy and Makeala King; eight great-grandchildren; a great friend and ex-wife, Marilyn King; siblings, Sally (Thomas) Phelps, Delores Miree, Glenda Evans, Dorothy Bostic, Rebecca, Steve (Belinda), Delbert (Margretta), Ruth, Gail and Jimmy King; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rest now, we have your watch.
