Yosef Gideon Yisrael "AKA" Robert Gerald Gooden Obituary

Yosef Gideon Yisrael, birth name Robert Gerald Gooden, was born December 13, 1965 to Antonia (Toni) Bryers (Mimms) and the late Robert (Billy) Palmore Jr. Yosef attended Wood ward High School in Cincinnati, Ohio and completed his GED  at  Job Corps in  Grand Rapids, MI. Yosef was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. After returning home, he started to gain knowledge of the Most High God, and it showed in his walk. He would walk through Lincoln Heights, the community where he spent most of his youth, with great authority talking to everyone about the Most High God. They gave him the nickname "Roots", and it was a perfect fit! He was "rooted" in the word of the Most High.

Yosef loved working with the youth and was very active volunteering at Lincoln Heights Elementary School on PTA, with Afterschool/Mentor programs, African American History Projects and as a hall monitor throughout the school year. He was also known for pulling disruptive students out of their classroom and talking to them, no matter whose child it was. He was also a frequent volunteer at Academy of World Languages, his son Rezin's school until his health prevented him from regularly participating. He was highly respected by all. He received awards and certificates for his participation and commitment.

Yosef was a strong worshipper in his faith, very spiritually minded and took it very seriously. He had a way with bringing the scripture to life so that everyone understood exactly what it meant. He established himself as a writer and became a published author in 1999.Yosef had many gifts, talents, and accomplishments: Educator Entrepreneur, Owner/ Manager of  Gideon's Healing; Poet and a singer/songwriter, just to name a few. Yosef leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life - his legacy and son Rezin Yisrael; his mother Antonia Bryers/Gooden/Mimms (James); Brothers Deandre Greene and Tyrone Gooden (Valencia);Sisters Yvonne Palmore, Nicole Burns and Louise Rochelle Gooden; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Yosef’s daughter Shulita Golder, sister Chauntelle Stackhouse and favorite Aunt Theresa Smith preceded him in death.
