Abrieonna Monet Brown Obituary

ABRIEONNA MONET BROWN was born to the union of Jerry Brown and Anita (Coley) Brown on February 9, 1993, weighing 10lbs and 11oz! She came into the world sassy and smiling. Abrieonna rejoined her Heavenly Father on a beautiful sunny morning on March 17, 2025.

From a young age, it was apparent just how intelligent and special “Abrie” (as she was affectionately known) was inspired by her godmother, Dr. Clarice Reid, who was also the first African-American female Pediatrician in Cincinnati. Abrie was known to write short stories of her own and excelled academically in school, which carried on through her college education as well.

Abrie accepted Christ at a young age (baptized on March 5, 2000) and over the years her relation-ship with God had grown and it was evident in her speech and actions, the light God instilled in her. No matter what obstacles she faced, including her most recent illness, she made sure to praise God every step of the way. She often stated that she trusted in God’s plan and whether he healed her on earth or in heaven, she was still healed.

While completing her college education, Abrie was known to work multiple jobs in order to sup-port herself and her education financially. After completing a three year program at Galen College of Nursing, she graduated with her BSN on October 20, 2023. She had accepted a job on the specialty med surge floor at Nationwide Children’s in Columbus, OH and wanted one day to become a Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Women’s Health. Unfortunately, she did not get to start her nursing career, as she was diagnosed with cancer two days after graduation weekend. For a year and a half, Abrie battled blood cancer that progressed to AML Leukemia, bravely and courageously.

Whether it was one of her best days or one of her worst, she always managed to smile and encourage those around her, including the team who cared for her during her journey at UC Health. She had a special relationship with the team at UC Health aka “The Blood Cancer Healing Center”, lead by Dr. Bryan Hambly and Nora Buzek, CNP or “Aunt Nora”, as Abrie called her. They adored Abrie and often discussed how much of an inspiration she was to others, with her positive energy and sweet spirit. It says a lot about you as a person, when nurses actually argue over who would have the privilege of taking care of you. The team even hoped she would become a nurse in their department, once she completed treatment.

Abrieonna won her battle against cancer on the morning of March 17th, surrounded by love. She leaves to cherish her light and memory: her adoring parents, Jerry and Anita; four siblings, Jeriann, Janissa, A’Laundra and Jerry (Kyndra); her loving godmother, Dr. Clarice Reid; three nieces, three nephews and two great-nieces; a host of aunts and uncles (or bonus parents, as she called them), countless cousins (aka bonus siblings) and an entire community of extended family and friends, touched by the light that she was in this world.
