Welcome to the memorial page for

Addie B. Reynolds

January 1, 1921 ~ December 29, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old
Addie Bell Reynolds was one of nine children born to the late Walter and Irene Guyn. She was born on January 1, 1921, in Versailles, Kentucky. Her brothers, Walter Jr., Samuel, James, George, John Leonard Guyn and sisters, Ramona Cobb and Lula Anderson preceded her in their passing.
Addie accepted Christ at an early age and made the most of what rural life had to offer. As soon as she could make it on her own, she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio with her three daughters, Lucille, Antoinette and Elnora. Shortly after arriving to Cincinnati, she met and married the late Monroe R. Reynolds and to this union, one daughter, Jackie was born. Always willing to help others, she joined First Baptist Church of Mount Auburn and became an active member for over 15 years. She later became a member of Concord Baptist Church and finished her ministry in service at First Baptist Church of Kennedy Heights until her health declined.
Addie was witty, tenacious and nurturing. She loved to cook and bake, travel, go to the casino and spend time with her family and friends. She was a skillful homemaker while her husband began building a successful auto body business. She provided support and a stable home environment that allowed their business to prosper and flourish. Taking care of family was Addie’s claim to fame and she taught her daughters how to be independent women. She was also so loving and supportive to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchild. Addie was known for all of her unique sayings but her favorite was “I’m kicking but not high, I’m flopping but her favorite was “I’m kicking but not high, I’m flopping but can’t fly.” Addie was involved in the Missionary Circle of First Baptist of Kennedy Heights, the National Association of Colored Women’s Club Southwest District of Ohio and the former financial secretary of the Tawasi Federated Women’s Club. She was also crowned queen of Pleasant Ridge Senior Citizen’s Group along with the city wide participation in the Senior Citizen Hall of Fame.
Addie leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Lucille M. Shannon, Antoinette Hurley Duke, Elnora R. Jones and Jacqueline R. Moore (Walter); one sister, Clara Hunter; 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews and her special friend, Hattie Davis, along with other relatives and friends.
