Celebrating The Life and Legacy of Albert Dumas

Albert Dumas, was born March 24, 1928 in Danville, Illinois to Ethyl Dupree and Albert Dumas.  He departed this life on March 17, 2020 at the age of 91.

His formative years of schooling were in Danville, Illinois.  He later obtained his Bachelor of Art Degree from Kentucky State University in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1948.  Albert was drafted into the United States Army where he faithfully serviced our Country in the Korean War on Guard, Tower #5 in Pusan, Korean from 1951 – 1953.  During his Military Career, he was trained as a Demolition Specialist.

Albert moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1961 to be an Educator in the Lincoln Heights School District as as Industrial Arts Teacher and a Substitute Teacher for Princeton City Schools.  In addition to teaching, he also was employed by General Electric as a Machinist; creating and assembling Jet Engines.  Albert received numerous recognitions, awards and accolades for his outstanding job performance, design ideas, commitment and dedication to service.

January 19, 1962, he married the love of his life, Johnnie Mae (Ellis) Miles.  Albert and Johnnie were bonded by God’s Marriage Covenant for 58 years.  During their journey, they raised a family and traveled the United States and Europe.  Albert loved working.  Many thought of him as a “Workaholic, “Jack of all Trades” and “Creative Genius, “as he enjoyed carving items out of wood, cleaning carpets, painting and many other business adventures. Most notable for his Creekwood Sailboat Carvings, Back Scratchers and Lawn Mowing Services.  Albert was a Christian who believed the Good Lord watched over him and provided protection.  He was the wind beneath our wings; a loving father, great provider and selfless man, whose big heart matched his bright eyes and infectious smile.  He was Our Dad, Our Hero.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and 12 siblings.

He leaves to mourn his death:  his loving wife, Johnnie Mae Dumas; three sons, Albert (Jackie) Dumas, Jr, Errole Alexander Dumas, Andre’ Dion (Teresa) Miles and two daughters; Sherri (Scott) Williams and Jerri (Michael) Carr; 9 grandchildren, Andre’ Miles II, Lee Christopher Miles, Kimberly Dumas, Christina Miles, William Miles, Jason Dumas, Bria Yarborough, Auston Carr, Brandon Carr, Tyler Barrett, Kylie Barrett, Jordan Barrett, Brynna Barrett and 3 great-grandchildren; Andre’ Miles III, William Miles II and Jade Miles; one sister Helen Clarke; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
