Alice Vaulx Obituary

Alice Melinace Vaulx was born February 24, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mary Rawlins Vaulx and Alvin Vaulx. She transitioned from this life December 1st, 2022, at Sanctuary Pointe Nursing & Rehab Center, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Alice was a life-long resident of Ohio. She attended various Catholic grade schools in Cincinnati, including St. Joseph and Assumption. She spent her late adolescent years living in Columbus, where she earned her high school diploma. After returning to Cincinnati, around 1970, Alice attended night school for job training. She then worked for multiple companies, including the Kenner toy company and Keebler Company. Although she was declared disabled in 1982, she continued to periodically work temporary jobs. Whenever her health permitted, she was a faithful election poll worker.

Alice never married or had children, but she cherished playing a role in rearing her nieces and nephews. She often babysat and was always eager to offer her siblings advice and support as they parented. She would frequently say you don’t have to be a mother to mother, and she appreciated cards and calls for Mother’s Day. She was an aunt who would chaperone her nieces’ birthday and slumber parties and bake cupcakes for their class. She valued maintaining close relationships with her siblings and nieces and nephews. She enjoyed giving her time and resources to family, friends, and strangers. She faithfully donated to various charities. Alice was a very generous person who loved hard, gave unselfishly, and appreciated feeling needed.

Alice had a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a vibrant personality. Fittingly, her favorite color was yellow. She loved to sing and dance, and the Motown Sound was her favorite. She was also an avid reader of drama and romance novels, and the bible.

Alice spent decades on her walk with her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She was baptized Catholic in her youth, and alsoattended the Seventh Day Adventist Church. As an adult, she transitioned to the Baptist denomination and considered Thomas H. Ferrell, Jr. to be her pastor until his passing in 2008. Although she was not a member of a church in her later years, she always prayed, would advise others to pray, and her faith remained strong.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory her niece and legal guardian, Christina Vickers; three sisters: Jean Ferrell, EgloriaRobinson (Robert), and Grace Vickers; one brother, Nathaniel Vaulx; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Rawlins Vaulx;father, Alvin Vaulx; brothers: James, and Henry Vaulx; sister,Eleanor Moore; and brother-in-law, Thomas H. Ferrell Jr.
