Allan K. Straughn

IN LOVING MEMORY

Allan K. Straughn, 68, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on August 14, 2026, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Cincinnati.

Allan was a hardworking man who spent his career in maintenance and custodial work. He was happiest at home, where he enjoyed yardwork, fixing on his cars, and taking care of his dogs—especially his beloved pit bulls. His yard was his domain, creating a good place for his dogs to live and run was what he loved most.

Allan was a devoted family man who shared more than four decades with his beloved wife, Dollie Lenora Straughn. They met in 1982 and were united in marriage in December 2001 at Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church. Dollie preceded him in death on March 9, 2026.

He loved home-cooked meals from Dollie and wasn't a fan of restaurant food. Allan enjoyed watching Marvel and DC comic movies, good Westerns” especially Gunsmoke, The Rifleman, and the films of Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, and cheering for his one and only team, the Cincinnati Bengals. He even attended a practice or two because he was such a loyal fan.

Known for his patience, good humor and sometimes wonderfully blunt way of keeping it real, Allan had a special way with the children. He gave Maura the nickname "Sprout" when she was born because she was so tiny. Qamar was "Q-Ball" and Aishia was "Sugar Lump." He was always happy when Maura came over, and made sure her favorite sweets were waiting at the house. At one point, he surprised her with a karaoke machine, and he was excited to give her their puppy.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife, Dollie Lenora Straughn; his mother, Ida Mae Stevenson; his stepdaughter, Jacqueline Way; and his stepgranddaughter, Aishia.

Allan leaves to cherish his memory his father, Clinton Straughn; stepson, James Maurice Runyon (Leah); grandchildren, Maura, Qamar, and Asadullah "Dullah"; sister, Lisa Paisley (Russel); niece, Kristen; and other family members and friends who loved him.
