Andrew "Bubba" Samuel

Andrew “Bubba” Samuel was born December 21, 1937 in Evergreen, Alabama, to the late Charlie Washington and Emma Lee Samuel. He was the second child of ten children. Andrew departed this earthly life on November 17, 2024.

Andrew attended and graduated from Conecuh County Training High school in Evergreen, Alabama.   At an early age Andrew accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and united with Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

He relocated to Cincinnati and began working at Frisch’s in Norwood in the early 60’s.  In 1962 he started working at Petermann Bus Company and held positions as a Monitor, Driver and Manager. He worked at Petermann for 60 years (YES 60 YEARS) and retired in 2022.

On May 3. 1968 he joined Greater Liberty Baptist Church under the Pastorate of Jerome M. Lewis, Sr.  Andrew was a faithful member of the Usher Board. As an usher he was committed to ushering, helping and serving in a friendly manner.

He was a three-time Worshipful Master of Wesley Smith Lodge 107.  Once in 1991, 1996 and again in 2004.

In May of 2016, he entered into a matrimonial covenant with Theresa Coleman.  Andrew had a close relationship with Maurice Guinn, his honorary grandson (age 13).  Maurice was affectionately known as his GrandSUN because he brightened up his day every time he was around, which was a lot.  In his spare time Andrew loved to play Bid Whist and No Kitty.

Andrew’s sisters Verdell Samuel Ammons, Lula Bell Samuel Walker, Dorothy Jean Samuel Rudolph, and his brother Joe Lewis Samuel, all preceded him in death,

Andrew is survived by his wife Theresa Samuel, four sisters: Charlie Mae Samuel Howard (Lemon), Inell Samuel Harrod (Joe), Louvenia Samuel Leaston (James), Beatrice Samuel Autry (Willie), and one brother, Curtis McNeal Samuel (Miranda); one sister-in-law, Sara Samuel; one godson, Maurice; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
