Annie Vickers Obituary

Annie Ruth Vickers (Ms. Annie) was born in Elyria, OH on September 16, 1962. Annie Ruth stepped into glory on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmy and Pauline (Payne) Vickers and sister, Dorothy Jean Robinson.

Annie Ruth attended Elyria Public Schools. She relocated to Toledo, OH and attended vocational training. Annie was a State Trained Nursing Assistant (STNA), however, she spent most of her life caring for infants and teaching preschoolers. She loved little children and they loved their “Ms. Annie.” Her nurturing presence in the classroom will be missed by parents, staff and children. Annie was an independent and vibrant personality from birth. Ms. Annie was previously employed by Primrose School at P&G GO Child Development Center.

Annie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, casinos and shopping. She would often bless someone with an Afghan she crocheted herself! “Anna Ruth” as family often called her, was non-traditional and simply, easy to please. Being “Miss Annie” and talking your ear off about what happened in the classroom i.e. who listened, who didn’t, who was late, etc. brought her much fulfillment.

Annie loved to shop! Wherever she visited, she’d often have a shopping spree mapped out. She had a pretty nice selection of designer handbags. She wouldn’t mind doing a trade with her sisters.

Annie enjoyed a good home-cooked meal! At times, she graciously accepted most invitations, bringing her own Tupperware. Ann was a previous member of World Outreach Church under the leadership of Pastor Gregory Chandler.

She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Chris Malone of Toledo OH; four grandchildren; her siblings, Rev. Jim Vickers, Jr. (Robin) of Liberty Township, OH, Dolores Vickers-Baker (Larry) of Lorain, OH, Lynn Vickers of Baltimore, MD, Eva Lee Vickers of Avon Lake, OH, Jerry Vickers (Bambi) of Elyria, OH, Eric Vickers (Lynette) of Seattle, WA and Robert Vickers of Indianapolis, IN; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends. Today, we celebrate you and say farewell. You left beautiful memories that we’ll cherish forever. You were an array of sunshine at family gatherings and kept us all laughing. In life we loved you dearly. In death, we’ll do the same. It breaks our hearts to lose your witty, bold and charming personality. Even in the darkest of times, God is with us and will guide us. Although we cannot see you, you’ll always be by our side.
