Annie C. Brown Obituary

Annie C. Brown, age 90, of Cincinnati, OH, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Hospice of Cincinnati, Inpatient Care Center - Christ Hospital 5 West.

Affectionately known as “Cat,” she was born Annie Carrie Thomas on May 23, 1935, in Cincinnati, the daughter of the late Harry Thomas, Jr., and Lillian Harris "Lillie Pearl' Foster Thomas.

Annie met the love of her life, George Walter Brown, Sr., at age 15 and they married on December 26, 1952, in Lawrenceburg, IN at age 17. There were eight children born lo their union, Peggy, Rhonda, Chuike (Denise), George Jr, Maureen, Nevalan, Shawn, and Trina.

She was a strong-willed woman, mother, grandmother, sister and friend_ Annie's love for her children was endless; each of them held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent together.  A very caring woman, Annie wanted the best for everyone she loved and cared for, she loved her family very much.  She and her beloved husband shared a deep and genuine love for one another. They stood by each other through every season of life, taking pride in maintaining their loving home and creating a warm, welcoming space where family would gather and make lasting memories. Annie and George were devoted to each other for 44 years until his death on March 19, 1996.

For many years, Annie was a stay-at-home mom, and she would babysit children in the neighborhood. The last job she held was at Jay's Restaurant, where she was renowned for her famous Chicken Salad. Annie had a green thumb; she loved lo SSN, making clothes for her children when they were kids and later in life, she made special quilts for them.  She had a deep passion fa reading-especially romance novels; she enjoyed watching Westerns on Grit TV; frequenting thrift sloes; munching on Smarties and red licorice candies (she had a crazy sweet tooth); and drinking lattes from Starbucks. Annie will be remembered for the telephone calls to her children on their birthdays, where she would lovingly sing "Happy Birthday' to them.

Annie's legacy lives on through the memories she created and the love she instilled in her family. Though she will be deeply missed, Annie's spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in death by her husband, George; her stepmother, Carrie Belle Odom, a brother, Joseph "Albert' Thomas, two daughters, Rhonda Brown and Chuike Olusola (born Denise Brown), and a great.-granddaughter, Sydney Brown.  

Annie leaves lo cherish her loving memory her four daughters, Peggy Brown, Maureen "Mickie" Brown and Trina Harkness all of Cincinnati; Nevalan (Ezell "EZ") Orr of Waldorf, MD; and two sons, George "Bay' Brown,  Jr. of  Mount Orab, OH, and Shawn (Diane) Brown of Cincinnati; a half-sister, Katherine "Kat· Thomas and half-brother, Harry Lee Thomas, both of Cincinnati, OH; 23 grandchildren,41 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Emma "Lois" Jones, 98, who is now the last of their generation; two new-found nieces, Kitty Maxwell and Mrs. Sherald "Sheri" Walton Jones; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and caregivers, who will miss her dearly.

A private family Celebration of Life was held on November 22, 2025, at Cowan's Lake in Clarksville, OH.
