Annie Ruth Larkin was born in Cuba, Alabama on August 25, 1930 to Deacon Richard and Lorean Parker. She was the third of thirteen children birth from this union. Annie Ruth picked cotton, attended Kinterbish Public School, housekeeper/nanny for Dr. John Walker. In 1968 to 1973 Mother worked at Washette in Norwood. She had a zealous passion for working in the hospital. In 1973 Annie Ruth devoted 30 years of service to Bethesda Base Hospital Central Services Department.
Annie Ruth loved the Lord. In July of 1944 she accepted the Lord Jesus at the age of 14 at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist church in Cuba, Alabama.
She relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1952 where she married her husband Charles H. Larking (Kinterbish, Alabama) on March 14, 1952 from that union birth 6 children. Annie Ruth rededicated her life to the Lord in June of 1953, where she became a devoted member of Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend A. L. Goodwin.
Annie Ruth will be remembered for her willingness to service Christ, having a smile that could warm your heart. Back in the 60’s she was President of The Inspirational Choir (smiling), wearing her red blouse/black shirt and Christian Louboutin patent pointed soul pump, singing.
We come this far by faith leading on the Lord, He’s never failed me yet, can’t turn around we come this far by faith. Mom would be in the basement of Jerriel on a Saturday morning prepping food for Sunday Church Service event. With the help of the Senior Male Choirs and 5 kids “who knew the rules” which continue on until Sunday morning “Frying chicken/serving in the church kitchen.
Annie Ruth Parker Larkin was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lorean Parker, husband Charles, brother Richard (Louise Parker), Robert (Paralee), Tommie (Marqie) Parker, Sisters Minnie Williams, Clare Gist, Myrtle Lee Kern (Leon).
She leaves to cherish memories: Lillie Whitfield, Brenda (James) Willingham, Sr., Elaine (Ernest) Rayford, Shascies Parker Larkin, Charles Jr. (Brenda), Carl (Marmie), Tracy (Dana), and Michael Shaw. Adopted Children: Wayne Coleman, Donnie Corbin, Standley Parson, James McCreary, Vernon Kindick, Marlon Styles, Yvonnie Styles Beckham, Jerry M. Kirby M.D., and the Mt. Auburn Community Family. 14 Grandchildren, 37 Great-Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
