Anton Kwame Mullins Obituary

We’re gathered here today to celebrate the life of Anton, so that his memory and legacy shall live on. Anton Kwame Mullins was born on January 30, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the union of John B. Mullins and Dorothy Nickles, to whom he was the eighth of nine children. Anton was joined in marriage to Regina Bohanon and to this union, three children were born.

Anton, also known as “Big Anton” was a Sci-Fi loving, jovial, outgoing spirit who was always quick to lighten the mood, regardless of how drab the situation. He’d much rather hear you laugh than to see you cry. As a child, it became obvious that Anton was blessed with the gift of creation and a love for aviation and architecture. From scraps of paper, cardboard and glue, he replicated the landscape of downtown Cincinnati and crafted functional furniture. When not crafting with his hands, he loved his music, roller skating and cycling.

Anton was formally educated by the Cincinnati Public School System of which he would later be employed and retired from. During his time as a student, he met his best friend, Lawrence Ervin in the fifth grade at North Fair-mount Elementary. They graduated from Aiken High School in 1976 and then attended Wilberforce and Kentucky State Universities together until Anton joined the United States Air Force in 1979, ahead of marrying Regina later that same year. Anton returned home to Cincinnati with his family in 1982, when he began working for CPS until he retired. Although Anton dealt with his share of obstacles, he always loved with his heart.

Anton was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Mullins and Dorothy Mullins, and his brother, Victor Mullins. His memory will be cherished by: his children, Kevin (Stephanie) Mullins, Angela (Rob) Mullins and Anton Mullins, Jr.; his grandchildren, Kevin Mullins, Jr., Nyree Bonner, Morgan Mullins, Gionni Mullins, Robert Ellis and Alessia Samuels; his siblings, Doretha (Phil) Nixon, John (Mary) Mullins II, the late Jerry (Leslie) Mullins, Phyllis Mullins, Patricia (Rallinson) White, Olivia Griffin and Dennis Mullins; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
