Born on March 14, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Bootsie was the cherished son of the late Andrew and Mollie Dean Talbert. From a young age, he carried with him a quiet strength, deep sense of duty, and unwavering faith that would shape the path of his life.
A proud graduate of Lincoln Heights High School, Class of 1962, Bootsie went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy from 1964 to 1968. His dedication to service was matched by his work ethic and humility, later reflected in his careers with Procter and Gamble and AVON, where he formed lasting friendships and earned the respect of all who worked alongside him.
Bootsie was a faithful member of Towns Chapel CME Church, where he served dutifully as a church usher and janitor. His presence in the church was not just about service-it was about love, devotion, and being a steady hand in the place he held so dear. His warm smile and kind spirit welcomed many into God’s house.
Family was everything to Bootsie. He is survived by his loving brother, Randolf Talbert; his children Darren Talbert, Naia Talbert, and Shelby Cureton (Rodney Cureton); along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were touched by his gentle wisdom, his laughter, and the deep kindness that defined him.
A special thanks to Francesca Teal, a dear friend of Bootsie, whose presence, care, and support meant the world during his later years. Your friendship was a gift and comfort, and the family is deeply grateful for the love you gave so freely.
Bootsie’s life was a quiet testament to faith, honor, and love. Whether through his work, his service, or simply sitting with family and sharing stories, he made those around him feel seen, heard, and valued. Though he has departed this earthly life, his legacy will live on in the memories we cherish and the hearts he helped shape.
Rest Well, Bootsie. Your journey here is complete, and your light shines on in us all.
