Barbara Ann Lockett Obituary

On October 20, 1956, First Lady Barbara Lockett of Greater Life Changing Ministries, was born as Barbara Ann Hite to the late Robert and Ramona Hite in Cincinnati, OH.  She was one of nine children and was taught at an early age, the Love of Jesus Christ.  As a young child, she sat at the feet of her grandmother, Evangelist Lucille Parrish and gleaned from her wisdom and knowledge of what it was to serve the Lord and to live Holy.  Seeking to walk in the way of the righteous as a young lady, she dedicated her life to Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Frank Downs.

March 26th, 1977, First Lady Barbara Lockett was united in Holy Matrimony to Bishop Charles A. Lockett, Sr.  She served faithfully by her husband’s side in ministry.  Their union was blessed by three beautiful children, Pastor Charles Lockett, Jr., Precious R. Lockett, and Timothy Eugene Lockett.

The call upon her life was undeniable and in 1980, First Lady Barbara A. Lockett accepted the call into ministry and in 1983, she was officially ordained and licensed as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the Church of god Militant Pillar Ground of Truth, Akron, OH.  Being led by the Holy Spirit, Bishop Charles Lockett, Sr., and First Lady Lockett relocated to Greensboro, NC where their ministries flourished and spanned across several cities including, Richmond, KY, Columbus, OH, Danville, VA, Burlington, NC, Concord, NC, and Kannapolis, NC.

Her heart’s desire was to teach and to minister to women and she opened the doors to Ruth’s House in Burlington, NC, a transitional and rehabilitative program for women recovering from abuse and addictions.  First Lady Lockett faithfully poured the knowledge of God into women through numerous conferences, women’s retreats, one on one sessions and was a spiritual mother to many.  One Saturday of each month, she would host “Women In Training for Leadership”, where she taught on, “His Needs/Her Needs”, “Carnal Mind vs The Spiritual Mind”, “To Be Faithful Like Enoch”.  She led by example by living the life of a Proverbs 31 Virtuous Woman.  “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.  She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.  He children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.  Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellent them all.  Favour is deceitful, and beauty if vain: but a women feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.  (Proverbs 31:26-30 KJV)

First Lady Barbara A. Lockett was true leaders, powerful teacher, and an awesome servant of God.  She served as co-Pastor of Graceful Fellowship/Peaceful Zion Ministries, Danville, VA, where she was blessed by the late Pastor, Shepherd Motley, who entrusted First Lady Lockett to care for her daughter, Shawn Weadon (Christopher), whom affectionately became one of her daughters.

May 14, 2019, God in His infinite wisdom saw fit to call His daughter home.  First Lady Lockett was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Hite, grandfather, Earl Parrish, bother, Larry Carlos Richard, grandmother, Lucille Parrish, mother, Ramona Evans, step-father, Norman Evans, brother, John Lee Richard, and her half-brother, Samuel Wagner.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved husband, Bishop Charles A. Lockett, Sr., her children through which her legacy will continue, Pastor Charles A. Lockett, Jr. (Tiffany), Precious R. Lockett, Timothy Eugene Lockett, her grandchildren, Donavan, Charisma, Essence, Journee, Charles III, her spiritual children, Zack & Jack Garrison, and Christian Weadon.  Her brothers, Elder Ronald F.
