Betty Jean Brown was born to Coleman "Bates" Jones and Lily "Pearl" Conners-Jones in Covington, Kentucky on September 20, 1932.
Betty graduated from Lincoln Grant School in Covington, KY. Afterwards, she attended Booth Memorial School of Nursing, also located in Covington, KY, and then began her nursing career at Booth Hospital.
Within this time, she met and married Louis D. Brown. In 1965, after the birth of her four children, Phyllis, Louis, Norman, and James, Betty moved over the river to Cincinnati, OH. Throughout the years, she continued her nursing career at various hospitals in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Outside of nursing and spending time with family, Betty loved making her famous monkey bread and delicious yeast rolls. Her home was always open for visits because she loved conversation and making memories. Once she retired from nursing, she would visit The Y to exercise and enjoy the company of the people. She also loved napping, watching musicals, and reading.
Betty is preceded in death by both of her parents, her son, Norman Maurice Brown, brothers LaBron "Babe" Jones, Robert "Hoggie" Oscar Jones (Therma), Norman "Butchie" Winston Jones (Betty), Shirley Jones, and sisters Carol Ann Jones Johnson and Rose Marie Jones Collins (Cleophus).
She is remembered by her loving children, Phyllis Robinson, Louis G. Brown, James E. Brown, daughters-in-law, Diane Brown and Sandra Brown, her 9 Grandchildren, 18 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great Grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, extended friends, and close friends that became family from the neighborhood throughout her 93 years of life.
