Brenda Baskin, age 71 of Covington, Kentucky passed away on August 23rd, 2023. Brenda was born in Covington, KY on May 25th, 1952 to the late Ella Mae Hydeelberg and James Baskin. Brenda accepted Christ in her life at an early age and continued serving the Lord until she was called home.
Brenda was a decorated athlete and played professional football for the Toledo Troopers from 1975 to 1979. The Toledo Troopers were the winningest football team in history only losing 4 games total and winning 60 games and 7 consecutive championships in 9 years. The team was inducted in the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton, OH in 2014. Brenda was very modest and never talked about her accolades. Brenda graduated in 2018 with her GED from WIN Learning Program.
Brenda loved her family and was a fierce protector of everybody she loved. She was a gentle soul, but she carried herself like a giant. She was the eldest child and the oldest cousin, and she made sure everybody knew what her role was to this family. She was the first babysitter, disciplinarian, protector, and peacemaker. She was loyal and would support anyone if they needed her. She always showed up and helped. Brenda will truly be missed.
Brenda is survived by her son Christopher J. Baskin her sister’s Deborah Jean and Sharon Marie Hydeelberg, and her beautiful granddaughter Navaeh Baskin and a whole host of Aunts, Uncles, and cousin’s nieces and nephews who love her dearly.
