Bruce Wright Obituary

Bruce Wright was born on May 11, 1961, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Mabel Lee Wright and William   McClendon.   Bruce was truly one of a kind. Hilarious, sharp-witted, and naturally gifted as a storyteller, he had a way of making people laugh until they cried. His sense of humor was unmatched—he could turn even the toughest moments into something lighter, something human, something bearable. To know Bruce was to know joy.

But beneath the jokes was a deeply intelligent, thoughtful man. Bruce was smart—like, out-argue-you-without-raising-his-voice smart. . Bruce was incredibly smart—quick on his feet, insightful, and curious about the world. He was an artist at heart; he could see beauty where others missed it. Bruce brought an artistic energy to everything he touched

He was a big kid at heart often more of a kid than the kids themselves. When they got in trouble, Bruce got in trouble too—like the time he taught his kids how to sling spaghetti on the ceiling just to see if it would stick. He believed in playing hard, laughing louder, and turning everyday chaos into unforgettable memories. He knew how to balance fun with purpose.

Bruce had plans to attend college in Dayton to study engineering, but life had other adventures in store. Still, his brilliance did not go to waste it passed straight through to his kids, grandkids, and great-grandchild, who each carry a spark of his creativity, cleverness, and rebellious charm.

Bruce was a devoted and loving father, someone who led with heart and tried to model strength, compassion, and honesty for his children. He believed in showing up and being present—not just for his family, but for everyone in his life. He was the kind of person who made time, who made space, and who made you feel important.

He had a gift for friendship. Bruce was a true friend to everyone. open, generous, and loyal. Whether you knew him for years or had just met him, you felt his sincerity. He did not need to say much to make an impact; his actions spoke volumes.

Bruce was deeply sensitive to the joys and sorrows of others. He didn’t wait for people to ask for help—he acted, quietly and from the heart. He felt things fully. And yes, he cried at movies—a lot. Romantic comedy! Cried. Action movie! Cried. Commercial with a puppy! Definitely cried. But he never apologized for it. That was Bruce, in tune with the pain and joy of others, and not afraid to feel it all with you.

Throughout his life, Bruce remained humble, selfless, and rooted in love. He was a constant support for those in need, often stepping in quietly during someone’s hardest moments, never asking for credit. He was a man of his word and  a  better man by action. His loyalty and his light will be deeply missed.

He Leaves to Carry On His Legacy

Bruce’s love and legacy continue through those who survive him. He was a proud and devoted father to nine children:

Jahfrey, Yahzweh, Yahsure, Jasmine, Montsho, Jahde, Shoyahwi, Amoyah, and Aroyal.

He was the joyful grandfather of twenty-three grandchildren, and the proud great-grandfather of one great-grandchild, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit, laughter, and strength.

From his mother’s side The Wrights, Bruce has eight beloved siblings. He is also remembered by a host of brothers and sisters on his father’s side the McClendon’s as Bruce would say “Demus and  NEM”  all of whom shared in the love, history, and connection that shaped his life.

His memory will live on in each of them, and in the countless lives he touched as a father, brother, grandfather, and friend.
