Carolyn Louise Massie “Bay-Bay” was born on September 18, 1943, to the late Benjamin Sr. and Lottie Mae Harris in Yazoo City, Mississippi. Carolyn was preceded in death by her late husband, Harold E. Massie, Sr. “Bubba”; her daughter, Ivy L. Massie “Muffin”; and two brothers, Benjamin Harris, Jr. “Man” and Kevin Harris.
Carolyn moved to Cincinnati at a young age where she attended Cincinnati Public School, graduating from Taft High School in 1961. She continued her education at Central State University where she met her late husband, Harold E. Massie, Sr. “Bubba”. They became united and married in 1968 and out of their union, they were blessed with three children: Harold E. Massie, Jr. “Clyde”, Ivy L. Massie “Muffin” and Adina Tia Massie.
Carolyn accepted Christ at an early age joining Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church, in 1960, under the leadership of the late Pastor A.L. Goodwin where she remained an active member until her death. Carolyn was a dedicated member of Corinthian Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Ohio and later Gothic Chapter #99, joining in 1997. As an active member of the Order of the Eastern Stars, she held several offices throughout her years of membership.
Carolyn retired from the Internal Revenue Service in 1997 where she worked for 34 years. Since she couldn’t sit still, she joined Riggs Bus Company in 1999-2009. She then joined First Student in 2009 where she retired again in 2020.
For leisure activity, Carolyn loved to travel and traveled all around the world. She belonged to Greater Cincinnati Baptist Church Bowling League, where she faithfully bowled every Saturday. Carolyn also liked helping people, so she dedicated her time at the Madisonville Education and Assistance Center (MEAC). As the matriarch of the family, she was always there in everyone’s time of need with a smile. She was a fun-loving, kindhearted person, dedicated to her friends. Carolyn was never without a smile and always offered kind and positive words of encouragement.
Carolyn leaves to carry on her legacy: her children, Harold Jr. (Erica) and Adina; her grandchildren, Elijah and Anya; her siblings, Janice “Puma” (Leroy), Donnie, Linda, Debbie, Sharon, Ava and Myra; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
