Carrie Lou Gilchrist Obituary

Carrie Lou Gilchrist was born on April 2, 1921 in Edgefield, South Carolina to Sarah and Eddie Brown. She went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 18, 2020.
She was educated at Liberty Springs School of Edgefield and joined Liberty Springs Church at an early age, under the leadership of Pastor Daniels.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Tom Gilchrist and to this union were born three children.
She later relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio. She worked at The Christ Hospital. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of John Ivey.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Eddie Brown; two sisters, Lillie Mae and Jessie Roper; one brother, George W. Brown; son, Alonzo Gilchrist of Detroit, Michigan; grandsons, James T. Gilchrist III of Cincinnati, Ohio and Maurice Peterson of Cincinnati, Ohio; and great- great-grandson, Tre’Vor Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, John T. Brown (Rosemary); children, James T. Gilchrist of Cincinnati, Ohio, Mary Ann Davis of Decatur, Georgia, Joe Wilson of Cincinnati, Ohio, Betty Miller of Cincinnati, Ohio, Victor Black of Cincinnati, Ohio, Barbara and Nita Black, both of New York; 17 grandchildren, a host of great-grand- children, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Carrie loved her family and grandchildren. She loved cooking and making cakes, her church, her friends, Bingo, whatever you needed, Carrie was there. She was loveable; never meeting a stranger. She attended adult day care until her health failed.
She will be missed so much by her family and friends, but never forgotten. She will always be on our minds and in our hearts.
