Charles M. Walters Obituary

Charles Marvin Walters was born on May 25, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Willie and Elizabeth Walters. He was the oldest of three children; his brother, Clifton Walters and sister, Shirley Patterson preceded him in death. He was the last sibling of his mother’s union to pass.

The family relocated to Cincinnati, Ohio where Charles accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Revelation Baptist Church. He attended Bloom Jr. High School and Courter Tech Trade School. Charles was an Iron Worker by trade and worked for Local 44 until he retired.

Charles was well loved by all his family and friends from young to old. Everyone looked forward to gathering around him to see what he had crazy to say. Charles definitely had no filter and loved to jug with any and everybody. He loved to entertain his family and to have a large spread and show off his Southern hand at cooking. Charles was a great cook and made everything from scratch. He loved hunting and fishing. Sometimes you wouldn’t know what you were eating because, he cooked deer, coon, frog legs all kinds of wild meat. Charles would fix it up with all the trimmings and make it look so good and afterwards laugh at you after you ate it and then tell you what it was. All the kids always thought they were eating chicken.

Charles had three sons that preceded him in death, Norman Walters, William Walters and David Walters. Charles was missing his best friend/brother, Frank Nitty Collins who passed away two years ago. It’s going to be a wonderful family reunion.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Cheryl Walters and seven children, Charlene Walters-Thompson (Anthony), Diane Walters-Chambers, Julius Walters, Lisa Walters, Shameka Ford, Tanesha Ford and Michael Ford; 16 grandchildren, Maurice, Cherylmica, Ashia, Marco, Danielle, Da’sha, Misty, Britney, Sarah, Amanda, Matthew, Terrence, Kortell, Brooklynn, Cartie and Messiah; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; one nephew, Darvin Patterson (Nakita); a host of family and friends and special friends, Jerry, Pat and the Collins family.
