Charles S. Hogan, Jr.

Charles Samuel Hogan, Jr. was born on March 29, 1953 to the late Charles and Rhetta Jean Hogan. He was the eldest of three children born to this close and loving family. Although his  relationship with his family was strong, his most valued and strongest relationship was with God. He joined Zion Baptist Church at an early age. He really loved the Lord and remained committed to a daily walk with Jesus.

He was affectionately known as “Chuck” by family and friends. Chuck attended Cincinnati Public Schools and graduated from Withrow High School in 1971. Following graduation, he went to work for Sears and Roebuck Co. as a salesman. His love of animals took him to the thoroughbred horse racing industry. His love of driving, social skills, and natural painting talent led him to careers as a taxicab driver and a painter.

He loved people and was a fun person to be around. He enjoyed sharing his point of view and loved to laugh, joke, and tell you what he “really” thought. Chuck’s hobbies included bid whist, watching boxing, slot machines, horse racing, cooking (he made excellent greens), gardening (he had a green thumb), singing (he really wanted to be a Pip), and most of all, he loved fishing.

His Grandfather, known as “Daddy Wiggins” also provided Chuck his first “cane pole” fishing rod and taught Chuck and Chuck’s cousin, Butch how to fish and they both became hooked on fishing for life as well as fishing companions and loving cousins. Early fishing trips often consisted of Daddy Wiggins, his grandmother Elizabeth (known as Bae Bae), Chuck and Butch as they whizzed over country roads in a 63 Ford Galaxy 500 to a variety of fishing lakes.

Forty-Three years ago, Chuck met the love of his life, Judy, and they were married on September 4, 1982. They became the Chuck and Judy show, a fun and loving couple, who enjoyed playing bid whist, fishing, and each other. Chuck introduced Judy to fishing and they, along with their son, Kevin, would remain on the riverbanks for hours. He was dedicated to his family and passionate about raising his children and grandchildren. Chuck was a loving, but firm parent who expected the best and always tried to do his best.

He leaves to celebrate his memory his loving, caring and devoted wife, Judith Hogan; his Children, Kevin (Bonnie) Hawkins, Shawn Hawkins, Latisha (Ben) Hogan; Grandchildren, Armonti, Jakya, Kevin, Jaden, Josh, Brynn, Douglas, Kymiahia; Aunt, Delores Hocker; Siblings, Kirk (Deborah) Hogan, Vicki (James) Scott; Cousin, Angela (Marlin) Harris; favorite Nieces, Tifani (Thomas) Blunt and Carla Kelley; and Nephew, Jimmy Kelley; and a host of family and friends. Chuck was greeted in heaven by his family of angels... .his daughter, Stephanie Hawkins, grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends...
