Cheryl was a precious Christmas gift being born the day after Christmas to John and Ida Brockman of Cincinnati Ohio
In her early years of middle school at Samuel Ach and high school at Withrow High she established life long friendships.
She was dedicated to being a good steward of the life path with which she had been blessed. Being baptized and worshipping in the Church of God in Christ she established a firm foundation that kept Cheryl looking for opportunities to be a blessing to others.
Cheryl lived her life with exuberance and a deep sense of joy and excitement for lifes experiences and challenges. This zest for life lead her to a career in modeling and then to a 35 year career with American Airlines in the position of Lead International Flight attendant. All the while she was able to achieved her greatest accomplishment of all and that was giving birth to her son. She was an excellent mom who consistantly went above and beyond to ensure her son had the best of everything especially her time, love and attention. Cheryl was an social butterfly. Cheryl loved to travel, socialize, dance, entertain and talk.
Cheryl was a globetrotter. She traveled the world gathering experiences of which others could only dream. She had a passion for reading and cooking. She was a soul food lover with a concious for clean, healthy meals that she enjoyed preparing for her friends and her family.
Cheryl was enterprising and ambitious. Her adventurous nature encourage a host of entrepreneurial investments.
Crowned Miss NIP, she was chosen to appear on the cover of the magazine, as a representive of the young, black contemporary, population of Cincinnati during the 1970’s.
Nip magazine was Cincjnnati ‘s Black owned and Black Opinion publication in the 1970's that addressed issues relevant to social change. Nip magazine was a platform for the under represented and Black Power Activist.
Cheryl loved her family, her people and her culture and she remained enthusiastic in support of African American Development. With a never-ending thirst for knowledge, Cheryl was an advid reader and historian. Honoring family she made strides in capturing the family history on both sides of our family tree. She took pride in recording and being able to pass down invaluable family history.
She relished in sharing excursions with as many of her loved ones as she could in over 35 years with American Airlines now God has given her new wings and a crown. She will be remembered for her generosity and love of family.
Cheryl was preceeded in death by her parents John and Ida Brockman, her oldest sister Mary E. Taylor, her brother John C. Brockman Jr. and her nephew Paul T. Watkins Jr.
Cheryl is survived by her son Isaac W Thompson, her sisters Donna Watkins, Kathy Walker (Eddie) Vicki Kidd and one niece Terri Stice (Ted) one nephew Joshua Brockman (Ashton) their children Kaylee, Josiah, Brynlee and Kolson.
