Chris A. "Tony" Robertson Obituary

Chris Anthony Robertson (Tony), the eldest of three children, was born on December 25, 1958, in Cincinnati, OH, to the union of Thomas and Maude Robertson. Chris departed this life suddenly on Monday, December 9, 2024.

Chris was baptized at a young age at the New Community Baptist Church (Reverend Prentice Brown) where he attended Sunday School and was involved in various youth activities. Chris grew up in the Colerain Township area where he graduated from Colerain High School in 1977. He continued his education at Bowling Green State University where he pledged Phi Beta Sigma in June 1978.

Chris was passionate about sports and played football, basketball and baseball from a young age. He played for a Little League Traveling Football Team for several years, the Tomahawks, under the leadership of Dick Seitz. He also continued to play sports into his 60’s, playing basketball with the Kenwood Old Timers League. In addition to playing sports, Chris coached Little League Football, Basketball and Baseball for over 30 years and was a mentor to so many youth. Most of the kids and their parents referred to him as “Coach Tony”. He even coached and mentored his grandson, Gi’Bran, from a young age, who is now playing football for the University of Notre Dame. For several years, Chris was President of the Little Senators Football Organization, President of the Ohio Premier Youth Sports Association, and an umpire and referee for the Cincinnati Recreation Center.

While playing and coaching numerous sports and being in Leadership roles for youth sports organizations, Chris worked for the Rack and Ballauer Excavating Company for many years as a Laborer and retired from the company as a Foreman in December of 2023.

Chris was a loving and caring husband, son, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was a die-hard Cincinnati Bengals fan (“Who Dey”) and loved to hang out and relax in his “Bengals Man Cave”. Chris also loved to grill. He was deemed the “Grill Master” after winning a local contest with his special BBQ ribs recipe, beating out two local restaurants.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Thomas B. Robertson, Jr.; his daughter Christina Robertson; his grand-parents, Thomas B. Robertson, Sr., Iris B. Robertson and Mary Sawyer; his stepdaughter, Nakita Daniel; his grand-son, Dior Gaither; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Chris will be sorely missed and is survived by: his loving and devoted wife, Sandra Jenkins Robertson of Cincinnati, OH; mother, Maude Robertson of Cincinnati, OH; sisters, Kim Austin (Willie) of Cleveland, OH, Kimmie Davis Moncree of Dayton, OH and Sonia Jackson (Joseph) of Alexandria, VA; daughters, Ashley Hunter and Brittney Robertson and son, Chris Robertson, Jr., all of Cincinnati, OH; stepdaughters, Melissa Yarbrough and Dannon Payne (Greg), both of Cincinnati, OH; stepson, Terry Daniel of Hawaii; niece, Tiera Austin of Cleveland, OH; 18 grand-children and host of cousins and friends.
