Christopher A. Smith Obituary

Christopher Allen Smith was born August 15, 1989 in Cincinnati, Ohio  to the loving union of Pamela Jean Eiler and Jesse E. Smith.  He departed this life on June 13, 2021.

Chris was uninhibited as a child.  One Sunday morning at the age of eleven on Easter Sunday; after being dressed for Sunday morning service, Chris jumped head first into the pool with all his church clothes on.  Still at the age of eleven Chris egged several cars in Tyler’s Creek.  Pam was afraid to answer her phone anticipating  someone reporting on some type of trouble Chris got himself into.  His daredevil antics continued when he totaled his bike with a makeshift bike ramp that lifted Chris fifteen feet in the air.    At the age of sixteen, Chris and his friend Mark road his car on the railroad tracks until they heard a train coming.

Chris loved sports, sports and more sports.  At the age of thirteen Christ played for  Hamilton Junior High school and continue as a varsity player for Hamilton High school.  He  excelled in track with his favorite subject being Physical education.

Chris’s life took a turn for the better when he came to Christ Temple Apostolic Church under the leadership of the late Bishop Donald Sorrells.  The message that brought Chris to the water to be baptized was “If Jesus was to come tomorrow, would you be ready.”  Chris received the Holy Ghost at the age of fourteen.

At the age of twenty-two, Chris left Cincinnati and moved to Lexington Kentucky where he meet Alyssa Davis.  Their relationship blossomed for about three years where Chris embraced Kamiyra who was Alyssa’s daughter and loved her as his own.  Shortly afterwards Chris’s first child Elijah was born.  Later Chris met Emisha who introduced him to Rose Frye which brought Chris to worship at Hopeful Gospel Church under the leadership of Pastor Casey Curtis.

At Hopeful Gospel Church, Chris desired to play an instrument he had never played before -the drums.  Chris delved into being a musician even buying his own drums to practice.  Chris joined the Barber college in 2020.  Chris was revered as a hard worker as he would always be to work on-time and would train others.  As a dedicated worker he was appreciated by his bosses.

Chris’s walk with Christ took many turns creating many ups and downs but through it all he maintained his love for Christ.  Chris’s last conversation with his mother included his proclamation that she would be proud of him.  He had given up drinking and going to bars and that he knew that this was a prayer answered for her.  He was proud of his Christian status in God and direction his life was going.  As he completed the last mile of his life, he was looking toward the hills from whence cometh his help.  His help being God.

Preceding him in  death was his father Jesse Smith and  sister Jeannette Smith.

Chris leaves to mourn his passing his beloved mother Pam Eiler; son Elijah Smith, brothers; Ricky Odum, Donald Eiler and David (Traci) Eiler, sister; Helen Odum and a host of relatives.
