Christopher Darian Lanton was born on February 12, 1970 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Edwin Milton Lanton and the late Sharon Helen Parker, and was their only child of this union. He went home to be with our Lord on Friday, June 3, 2022 after a brief illness.
At an early age, Chris joined the St. James A.M.E. Zion Church where he was baptized. In 1997, Chris renewed his faith in Christ at the First Baptist Church of Kennedy Heights (although he was not a member). He later joined Zion Global Ministries.
Chris graduated from Withrow High School. He was lovingly known by some of his high school friends as “Izms”. After high school, he spent four years in the United States Navy, traveling the world and becoming a member of the Naval Construction Battalion better known as the “Sea Bees”. He was proud to have served his country.
Chris was joined in marriage to Marcel Moats on May 29, 1999 to which two sons were born: Miles H. and Christian E. Lanton. He was a devoted and loving husband and father to his wife and sons. He loved to plan and take trips with them.
Chris worked in the construction industry and for the USPS as a mail handler. However, he was such a brilliant and creative mind that these roles were not satisfying and he pursued his passion of becoming a Master barber. All those whom he served, recognized his giftedness as a barber and he was described by some as “a beast” with the clippers.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Lanton. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memory: his wife, Marcel Lanton; two sons, Miles and Christian; his father, Edwin Lanton; a stepmother, Laura Hughes; a sister, Taylor Lanton; a brother, Nicholas Lanton; aunts, Michelle Williams (Willie), Candace Ensley (Reggie) and Kim McConnell (Wayne); an uncle, Nick Parker (Lola); and a host of cousins and friends.
