Clyde Brown Moultry Obituary

Clyde Lamar Brown-Moultry, a loving brother, father, grandfather, great- grandfather, uncle and friend.

He entered his eternal rest on December 21, 2022. He was born in Cincinnati, OH on June 10, 1945 to the late Bertha Moultry-Cobb. Clyde was raised in Lincoln Heights, OH under William and Lula Brown’s guidance and love. He gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ at an early age at Lincoln Heights Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend R.D. Wess.

Clyde went to Lincoln Heights Elementary School and he graduated from Cincinnati Central High School. He always had a place for music and sports. Clyde mostly dreamed of being a singer and was urged on behalf of the late Mr. James Roach. During his childhood days, he always wanted to be like Reverend James Cleveland and sing with Reverend James Cleveland and the Cleveland Singers. Clyde begun his career of singing with the Charles Fold Gospel Messengers.

Clyde’s dream came true, and eventfully became a member of the Reverend James Cleveland and the Cleveland Singers. He remained a member of the group for five years. Always reaching further in his singing career, he landed a contract with Atlantic Records. Clyde got a blessing and further enhanced his singing career. Clyde sung with many greats: Ben E. King “Drifters” group singing internationally. Clyde’s unique, soulful style has distinguished him as one of Cincinnati’s finest vocalists and entertainers. Cincinnati Magazine nominated him “Best of the City” and the Cincinnati Enquirer awarded Clyde “Best R&B/Funk Vocalist”. He finally developed his own musical production “Clyde Brown Productions”. Clyde Brown’s career includes 16 successful years as lead vocalist with both the internationally acclaimed group, Ben E. King & The Drifters and the King of Gospel, James Cleveland. Clyde was awarded solo releases on Atlantic Records and had recorded with the incomparable Ray Charles, Sister Sledge and Billy Preston.

Clyde has performed in concert with such world-renowned artists as Billy Ocean, Randy Crawford, Teddy Pendergrass, Wilson Pickett, The Stylistics, and The Temptations.
