Clyde Preston Sullivan

Clyde Sullivan, a once self-proclaimed “Basic Ghetto Boy”, the son of the late Leroy and Grace Sullivan who preceded him in death, was born in Ashville, North Carolina on February 3, 1945 and died October 24, 2024.

The family, which included his sister, Shirley and the late brother, Tommy, later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. Clyde’s childhood was spent in the Laurel Homes where he played with and made lifelong friends. He attended Washburn Elementary School, Bloom Junior High and Taft High School.

Clyde was more than a “Basic Ghetto Boy”. Some, mostly women, thought of him as a Renaissance man because he could do almost anything. He was a writer and avid reader and wrote poetry. He enjoyed cooking for his friends and had a reputation as a good cook which limited his dinner invitations! He loved children and was a substitute teacher at the end of his working career.

Clyde earned a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Science from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from Xavier University. Most of his professional career was spent at Procter and Gamble. He was a small business owner, entrepreneur and licensed financial planner.

Clyde leaves behind to mourn his death: his longtime partner, Ms. Cheryl Meadows; daughter, Pamela Johnson (Markeith); granddaughter, Jaylin Alexander; sister, Shirley McGlothin; sister-in-law, Bernice Sullivan (Tommy); special nieces; great friends, Dr. H. Jean McEntire, Dwight Walker and his “little sister”, Sandra Foster; and a host of friends and family.
