D'Shawn Ray

D’Shawn Ray was born on January 2, 2004 to Justin and Lauren. Born and raised in Cincinnati, D’Shawn was known for his playful energy, love for music, sports and his natural ability to bring joy and laughter to everyone around him.

At a young age, D’Shawn was a football lover. He played center, tackle and linebacker for the Cin-City Gators, formerly known as the Avondale Eagles from ages 8-12. His favorite player at that time was Marshawn Lynch who played for his favorite team, the Seattle Seahawks. He later snapped into reality and became a Bengals Fan! From the day D’Shawn walked on the field to the day he walked off, he was a starter! He also played a short time during high school. He was a proud graduate of Princeton High School in 2022. D’Shawn took full advantage of his high school education, while also attending Scarlet Oaks, where he earned his Automotive Technology Certificate. Though his passion for cars and football was evident, it was his music that truly defined him. As a talented rapper, he was streaming on all platforms, made numerous music videos on YouTube and had a huge fan base. D’Shawn used his art to express his experiences, thoughts and dreams, leaving a lasting impact on those who heard his voice.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lawrence Carter and Jimmy Ray; grandmother, Jeanette Ray; aunts, Lawanda Brown and Tyran Ray; and his cousin /sister, Zakiya Jones.

D’Shawn is survived by: his parents, Justin Ray and Lauren Faulkner (Dameon); siblings, D’Corriante Wheeler, Madison Phillips and Shyear Lovett-Faulkner; grandmother, Brenda Carter; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and fans, who will forever cherish the memories of his vibrant spirit. His laughter, his creativity and his boundless love for family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Though gone too soon, D’Shawn’s light will continue to shine in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
