Dan Carlisle, Jr. Obituary

Dan Carlisle, Jr. of Cincinnati, OH, passed away on February 1, 2024, at the age of 81. He was born in Kewanee, MS on August 3, 1942 to the union of Dan Carlisle, Sr. and Johnsie Ree Carlisle.

Dan accepted Christ at an early age by joining the Springhill Baptist Church in Kewanee, MS. Upon graduating from Stevenson High School in Toomsuba, MS (1962), he headed to Cincinnati, OH to marry his longtime sweetheart, Marie Johnson. He also joined Jerriel Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the male chorus and kitchen committee for many years. He was a member for 60+ years.

Dan was affectionately known as “Big Daddy” and “Dan the Man”. He was a very hard-working individual, who held jobs at Klosterman Bakery as a Vice Union Stewart and Cincinnati Milacron/Cast-Fab Technologies as a Welder and Inspector.

He was a faithful member of the Meridianites of Cincinnati Club, where he held the position of Vice-President for many years. His other interests included: singing, gardening, barbequing, watching sports on TV, traveling to visit family down home and discussing politics.

Dan was preceded in death by: father, Dan Carlisle, Sr.; mother, Johnsie Ree Carlisle; brother, Leroy (Mattie Lee) Carlisle; sister, Janie Betts; sister, Edna Lee Barney; brother, Rev. Elijah (Ernestine) Carlisle; sister, Margie Ree (Clarence) Leavings; sister, Ora Lee (Alphonse) Danzy; sister, Bertha Mae Lofton; sister, Mary Wallace; sister-in-law, Maudie Bell Ward; and brothers-in-law, James Ward, Willie James Hall and Bill Wallace.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Mrs. Marie Carlisle; three beautiful daughters, Bonita Yvette Carlisle, Sheila (Kelley) Peagler and Alicia Carlisle; two beloved grandchildren, Terry Brandon Mathews and Kellyn Alise Peagler; sister, Junie C. Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
